HAPAG - LLOYD | Acquires Deutsche Afrika-Linien (DAL)

In mid-March, Hapag-Lloyd announced an agreement to acquire DAL’s container transport business. DAL is a shipping company based in Hamburg that dates back to 1890, specialised in the route between Europe, Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean.

With this acquisition, pending approval by the competition authorities, Hapag-Lloyd will further reinforce its presence in the routes to Africa, after last year’s purchase of NileDutch, with services in Western Africa.
