GEODIS | Sustainable fuel for air and sea transport

Geodis, which up to now had made this service available in its goods transport by road operations, now offers its clients the opportunity to benefit from alternative fuel solutions by air and sea, worldwide.

Fuel for air transport (sustainable aviation fuel) and sea transport (sustainable marine fuel), not derived from fossil sources, are produced using food and agricultural waste (mainly cooking oil). This results in a massive reduction of CO2 emissions throughout the cycle, from fuel production to consumption: at least 80 % in air transport and 90 % in sea transport, as well as reducing other pollutants.

These alternative fuel sources are classified as «insertable» or «integrated carbon reduction» because they take place within the chain of value of the means of transport.

Using a «book & claim» approach, each client can choose a level of contribution as high as they wish, covering up to 100 % of the CO2 emitted by their freight transport».
